Welcome to ExpatRomance! We’re pleased and excited to have you with us.
So, here’s the deal – we’re a quirky couple that decided to make the move to a nomadic lifestyle. We created our own travel blog and wanted to share our new life as location independent entrepreneurs. We can’t wait to share our journey and experiences with you in the hopes that it inspires, educates, and entertains you.
We love to travel and have done short stays all over SEAsia, but we’ve always ended up back in Davao as our “home base”. But we’ve finally made up our minds and in September 2014 we’ll be hitting the road to become location independent! We’ll be sharing our journey, success, and failures with you all along the way.
Who is this site for?
Our friends, family, and anyone else interested in finding out what it’s like to travel the world as a location independent power couple. 🙂 Ok, maybe that’s overstating it a bit, but we are quite the team.
Are you planning to make the jump with your SO and go location independent?
Wonder what a relationship on the road is REALLY like?
Want to connect up with us when we’re in the same country/city?
This blog is for you!
We’d love to hook up with other couples that want to travel and explore cultural differences, beliefs, and characteristics in other countries.
Who are we?
I’m Aiza, he’s Justin, and we currently both live in Davao City, Philippines. I’m a Filipina, he’s American, and we’ve been been together for over 4 years now.
Our first trip together was in 2010 to Boracay, Philippines with friends. Since then, we’ve been quite a few countries, including:
- Hong Kong
- Indonesia (Bali)
Vietnam was my first trip out of the Philippines. It was exciting to travel internationally and learn about their culture and history. The fact that we’re both from different countries makes our travels to other countries even more culturally rich. (And interesting)
I’m a 37 year old American entrepreneur. My business partner and I started building a business in Davao City, Philippines back in 2008 and I made the move here in early 2010. Since then I’ve created a business I love, FALLEN in love, and have been lucky enough to travel all over SEAsia with Aiza. I blog pretty regularly for my business, but I thought this would be a fun thing Aiza and I could do and share together as we begin our new life as expats. I’m not much of a backpacker and prefer a more comfortable travel experience, but I love to explore new places, eat new food, and meet new people.
I’m a 26 year old Filipina nursing graduate, but decided to work as a BPO (outsourcing) agent in 2010 instead of following the path of my actual degree. Although, I don’t have any background with blogging, I’m still excited to have this blog up and running and think it’s going to be a lot of fun.
I convinced Justin to help me out and teach me some blogging basics, WordPress stuff, and all the things that would help me put this together. I’d never traveled or explored different countries before I met Justin. When he offered to bring me with him to travel to Vietnam I was nervous, knowing that I will be in different country and no one speaks my language. I thought it may be a pain in the ass, but with Justin there I felt very comfortable and just enjoyed learning their culture and history. After that first trip, I’ve been able to travel and not worry anymore.
So – What are you waiting for? Join us in our venture and maybe this lifestyle we chose will be a fit you as well!
